US Generals ACW 150th Commemorative Ceremony

There will be multiple events on Sat., April 4, to honor the soldiers that fought at Sailor's Creek. Come learn and experience the history firsthand! This is the 150th Anniversary (Sesquicentennial) of the battle fought at Sailor's Creek. At this event you will truly learn more about what makes this place "Hallowed Ground." These battles were a turning point for General Lee and the Northern Army. Our Visitor Center houses exhibits showcasing artifacts and research about the battles of Sailor's Creek and the war's impact on the citizens of Southside Virginia.

The Visitor Center museum and gift shop will be open.

11 AM. Speeches by US Generals followed by a wreath laying at the commemorative monument.

1:30 - 2:30 PM. The Orange (VA) Community Band will perform a concert featuring music once played by the 18th Virginia Heavy Artillery Battalion Band, which fought at Sailor's Creek.

Battlefield guided walking tours will be offered throughout the day.

The Hillsman House Field Hospital will be open for guided tours.

Open to all. FREE.
