1. Where do I park?

Free parking for the conference will be at the Virginia Horse Center, with continuous free shuttle service bringing attendees to the VMI Center for Leadership and Ethics (Marshall Hall).

The Virginia Horse Center is located at 487 Maury River Road, on the northwest side of Lexington, Virginia.

*There is no parking at VMI for this conference*

Driving directions to the Virginia Horse Center are below:

[+] From the North

I-81 South to Exit 191. Proceed on I-64 West 1/2 mile to Exit 55. Turn right on Route 11 North, and immediately left on Route 39 West. The Virginia Horse Center is one mile ahead on the left.

[+] From the South

I-81 North to Exit 191. Proceed on I-64 West 1/2 mile to Exit 55. Turn right on Route 11 North, and immediately left on Route 39 West. The Virginia Horse Center is one mile ahead on the left.

[+] From the East

I-64 West to I-81 South. I-81 South to Exit 191. Proceed on I-64 West 1/2 mile to Exit 55. Turn right on Route 11 North, and immediately left on Route 39 West. The Virginia Horse Center is one mile ahead on the left.

I-64 East to Exit 55. Turn left on Route 11 North, and proceed 1/4 mile to stoplight. Turn left on Route 39 West. The Virginia Horse Center is one mile ahead on the left.

 

2. Can I park at VMI or the Center for Leadership and Ethics?

No - parking is not available at VMI for this conference.

A limited number of spaces are available on a first-come first-served basis at Marshall Hall for vehicles displaying a DMV-issued disabled parking placard or license plate. Otherwise, there will be an ADA-accessibile shuttle providing service between the Horse Center and VMI.


3. How often does the shuttle run from the Virginia Horse Center to VMI?

Shuttles begin at 7:00 am and run on a continual loop throughout the day, through 6:00 pm.

An ADA-accessible shuttle is available.

 

4. What time should I arrive? What should I bring?

Doors for registration check-in open at 7:15 am. Please bring the electronic confirmation slip that you received when you registered online, along with your registration number.

Seating is available in either in the Gillis Theater or the Hall of Valor. Seating is not reserved - - it is available on a first-come, first-served basis. As this conference is at capacity, it is advisable to arrive early.

For the comfort and safety of all guests, please note that the following items are not permitted in Marshall Hall: signs, posters, bags, poles, banners, backpacks, cameras. Weapons of any kind are prohibited in Marshall Hall. All items are subject to search.

. Where will I eat lunch?

If you pre-purchased a boxed lunch when you registered, you will receive a lunch ticket at registration. Lunches will be distributed from the Hall of Valor in Marshall Hall.

If you did not pre-purchase a boxed lunch, options include:

  • VMI PX: Quizno's, pizza, prepared foods
  • Restaurants throughout downtown Lexington
  • Concessions in Marshall Hall

6. What are some other things I can do in the area? Where should I stay during my visit to Lexington?

With unmatched history, stunning natural beauty, fine dining, and shopping, there is much to do in the Lexington/Rockbridge/Buena Vista area. Plan to stay a few extra days to take it all in!

A weekend full of special activities is being planned in conjunction with the 2012 Signature Conference at VMI, the Stonewall Jackson House, and the VMI Museum. Special events include tours of Lexington's Civil War, the 2012 Stonewall Jackson Symposium Tour and Land Not Lost, a limited-time art exhibition at Washington and Lee University.
